classic-winnie-the-pooh-32_1780x2406A member of our office team worked as a primary school teacher prior to joining Abbott-Wade and has fond memories of dressing up in school each World Book Day. As a family business, we love to celebrate World Book Day too (although we aren’t sure how our customers would feel if they found a team of carpenters dressed as Where’s Wally and Harry Potter installing their staircases). Instead, we thought we’d share a relevant poem by Winnie the Pooh author AA Milne from his 1924 collection ‘When We Were Very Young’:

Halfway down the stairs

Is a stair

Where I sit.

There isn’t any

other stair

quite like

it.

I’m not at the bottom,

I’m not at the top;

so this is the stair

where

I always

stop.

Halfway up the stairs

Isn’t up

And it isn’t down.

It isn’t in the nursery,

It isn’t in town.

And all sorts of funny thoughts

Run round my head.

It isn’t really

Anywhere!

It’s somewhere else

Instead!

Just as AA Milne intended we loved this poem when we were very young, and so many years after it was written, our own children are now enjoying it too.
