15mm Frameless Glass Balustrades: The beauty of designing a bespoke staircase is that every staircase is unique. With a range of hardwoods, special stains or paints, a wide variety of spindles and different styles of toughened glass to be embedded into the balustrade rails or fitted securely with different styles of bracket. Even the newel posts can be custom fluted or chamfered or even especially CNCed to complete a quarter turn to give a truly unique twist.
While most customers love the feel of our most popular contemporary and sleek handrails, eliminating the handrails and newel posts altogether is a cutting edge alternative which requires expertise design and installation but results in a spectacular centerpiece to a home with ultramodern style.
Unlike our usual toughened 10mm balustrade glass which can be embedded into the handrail and baserail of the balustrading or secured using special clamps; frameless glass requires a thicker panel to compensate for the strength which would otherwise be provided by the timber posts and rails. Precision drilling prior to the toughening process is also required to allow an alternative and secure fitting method. There is no doubting the final, spectacular result which in the pictured example, is coupled with custom stained oak stringers and non-slip treads.
