Why a new staircase?

We initially saw a glass panelled staircase in a showroom when viewing new houses with our son. Together with the numerous creaks on the stairs, we discussed the option of bringing a totally new look to the hall and stairs. The whole process took almost two years as we believed this would leave a lasting effect. It was very important that we made the right choice.

Inspiration:

We had seen several designs on the internet when browsing through houses currently on the market. Each time we saw a wooden staircase with glass panelling, we both knew this would be our overall preference.

Decision making process:

We had set a budget to cover all aspects of the hall and stairs, which would include complete re-decoration, new carpets and/or a laminated hallway entrance and refreshed fittings including new modern radiators and lighting. Initial quotations for the staircase virtually covered our whole budget which initially halted the whole project. However, when I came across Abbott-Wade through an internet search engine, the comments on the site prompted an email, which resulted in a visit from one of their representatives. Their pricing structure ultimately brought the project within our original budget.

Style choice:

From the outset, we felt that the glass panelled staircase without clips would be our first choice. But we found the additional aspects difficult to finalise. This is where the Abbott-Wade representative was extremely helpful. His guidance proved invaluable, as was his patience. The final design was subtly different to any we had seen previously, and the final concept proved both attractive and the perfect solution.

End Result:

The final effect of our new staircase has been dramatic. The appearance is beyond any of our expectations, and has transformed the whole house as this is the first part of the house that is viewed when any visitors arrive. Without exception, all have remarked positively on the impact. Even our decorator was amazed at the final result.
