We’ve done it again!
We are delighted to confirm that our multi-award winning Family Business has received yet another prestigious accolade. Following on from our success at the last years awards, Abbott-Wade were winners again at the prestigious National Family Business Awards at a ceremony held at Wembley Stadium on 14th July 2018!
Abbott-Wade were honoured to receive The Customer Service Award for the North West region at the ceremony which was hosted by Anita Brightly-Hodges, Chairman of the Family Business Place amid stiff competition from finalists representing the finest family businesses in the UK . Fellow recipients included celebrated business men & women like Charlie Mullins OBE who was also picking up an award on the night on behalf of Pilmico Plumbers. It was a truly family affair with Abbott-Wade being represented by Directors Craig Abbott & Mike Wade, their wives and parents as well as other members of the Abbott-Wade team. It was a proud moment for Craig & Mike’s parents who were also there to see their sons take to the stage to receive their award. For them, it was wonderful to witness another great achievement for their boys after seeing their journey to get there from humble beginnings back in 1996.
The National Family Business Awards 2018
The National Family Business Awards, organised and hosted by Family Business Place have a growing reputation for discovering and recognising the most outstanding family businesses throughout all four corners of the UK and Ireland and have quickly become THE Family Business awards everyone wants to be a part of. The NFBA’s are the UK and Ireland’s only awards dedicated to family businesses. Family Businesses of all sizes and from all sectors are represented from small local retailers to large manufacturing firms which is just one of the reasons that the NFBA’s is the most talked about date in the family business calendar. Between the speeches and awards, finalists at this years ceremony were entertained by one of the most sought-after performance choirs in the South East, ‘The Rubies’ who have performed at spectacular events all over the county and are now seen regularly performing at major venues such as Rochester Cathedral and the City of London’s famous Guildhall.
Craig Abbott & Mike Wade took to the stage to accept the North West’s Customer Service Award on behalf of their team.
“It’s great to receive this award on behalf of our dedicated team,” says Mike. “We know that good customer service is not just reserved for the start of the process, it is and should be a constant factor throughout the whole Abbott-Wade experience. That’s what makes this award such a team effort. We know we won’t get it right it right every time but we also know that the vast majority of our customers have a very good experience with Abbott-Wade from start to finish because they tell us regularly.”
Abbott-Wade know that transforming a customers staircase is an investment of their time as well as a financial commitment. We understand that good customer service is important to our clients. As a family business, we make a point of treating our customers the way we would expect to be treated: With respect, patience and kindness.
“For our customers, the journey with Abbott-Wade’s customer service starts with a visit from our small but dedicated design team who endeavour to ensure our customers make informed decisions,” explains Craig. “Our friendly office team keep in contact with our customers throughout the process. One of the nice things about a small team like ours is that customers soon get to know our staff and staff know each customer! Our team project manage each new staircase and renovation from start to finish, arranging each installation as seamlessly and stress free as possible, keeping clients informed and involved.”
But at Abbott-Wade, we don’t fall into the trap of thinking that customer service is reserved for our office team. As well as being the best staircase fitters in the industry, our fitting teams are the face of our company. It’s important that our customers feel happy and at ease with our staff in their own homes. It’s also important that they trust them to get the job right! Our fitting teams are happy to discuss what they are doing with our clients as they work and to discuss any preferences customers may have regarding any specific finishing styles to get the aesthetic just right.
Every so often things may not run entirely to plan. This is the nature of any bespoke joinery work. We don’t pretend that we’re perfect 100% of the time – and we’d question any company who does! What we do have is a commitment and confidence that each staircase we install will be completed to a high standard and the customers satisfaction. We have worked for over 20 years to build up the best reputation in the staircase sector and we’re dedicated, not only to sustain this but to build on it further!

Success at this years National Family Business Awards follows on from being named the Best Small Family Business in the North West in 2017 at The National Family Business Awards, The Best Bespoke Staircase Replacement Firm in the UK by Acquisition International and winner of Excellence in Bespoke Home Improvements at the Corporation LiveWire Innovation & Excellence Awards in 2018. It’s a string of accolates which covers so many aspects of our business and reflects our continuing ambition to be the best in our field.
