We are delighted to announce that Abbott-Wade have been declared the North West’s Best Small Business at the National Family Business Awards and one of the country’s leading family businesses.
The Road To Wembley
At Abbott-Wade we’ve always been proud of our northern roots and the traits of hard work, honesty and friendliness synonymous with the region. Whatever part of the country our nationwide service takes us to, it’s always good to come home. That’s why we were thrilled to be shortlisted to represent the North West at the National Family Business Awards at Wembley Stadium. We’ve been to London countless times in a professional capacity – but this time there was not a tool or speck of saw dust in sight.

Members of our team had visited the stadium in previous years to cheer on their team in football and rugby, but this visit was different. This was our own personal achievement and we’d got their on our own merit. We could only hope that it was our time to shine.
Members of the Abbott-Wade family take their seats for the awards ceremony
At a glamorous ceremony at London’s Wembley Stadium set against the backdrop of the famous pitch which has hosted the world’s sporting elite; the Abbott-Wade family were proud, not only to represent the finest family businesses in our region, but to do so at the prestigious National Awards amongst the best of the UK & Irelands 3 million family firms and the entrepreneurs who lead them.
“Every year we are blown away by the variety and calibre of family businesses who enter the awards. Few people realise that every time they visit their local hairdresser, stay in a boutique hotel, buy a bottle of wine, have a necklace made or buy cheese in the supermarket that they are in fact supporting passionate, dedicated families who have set up in business together. They might be hundreds of years old or new kids on the block. These awards are our chance to say ‘thank you’ and give recognition for their contribution.” – Amalia Brightley-Gillott, Awards Director

Winners
What an accomplishment! Abbott-Wade scoop the prestigious North West Best Small Business award at the first time of asking and we couldn’t be happier. It’s not been an easy road to Wembley. Like any small business we’ve had set backs and overcome hurdles. We’ve seen our competitors come and go but we’ve stuck by our principles, treated our customers with respect and been committed to doing the best job we can. Since our business was founded in 1996, we’ve provided jobs for local people and built a reputation which is the envy of the staircase industry.
“We’re very proud of the Abbott-Wade family. It’s hard work running a small business as I have witnessed first hand. Long hours, hard graft, stress and lots of sacrifices made along the way. I may be biased but if anyone deserves this recognition it’s Mike and Craig; both genuine, honest and kind hearted to the core. Well done to all the team!” – Johanna Wade
