“The hall stairs and landing will be worthy of inclusion in Country Life magazine!”
There are many types of staircase, in all shapes and sizes. Open tread staircases are a great way to add an open feeling to a living area. However, even an open tread staircase can need a bit of TLC eventually and Abbott-Wade were the obvious choice for Mr & Mrs Dowlman in Lincolnshire who wanted to replace old ranch rails to create a bright glass staircase. As other work in the home progressed, the completed staircase provided the vision and drive to ensure the rest of the project was completed to the same standard:
“Needless to say we are delighted with our revamped staircase. At the moment it is a beacon of delight in a sea of disorganisation!”
Why a new staircase?
“The original staircase, installed when the house was built about 35 years ago, was dark stained soft wood, becoming quite battered and an old-fashioned boring design.”
Inspiration:
“We’d seen adverts in home magazines which planted the seed.”
Decision making process:
“We’d read good reviews and comments that Abbott-Wade were less expensive than other national companies.”
Style choice:
“We retained existing treads but replaced handrails, newel posts and replaced other rails with glass. This design worked a treat.”
End result:
“We still await the decorator and carpet fitter but on completion the hall stairs and landing will be worthy of inclusion in Country Life magazine! The fitters were excellent – chirpy, polite, helpful and superb craftsmen. We are delighted with the result.”
