Mr Molyneux is no stranger when it comes to renovation projects and this staircase was planned to be the jewel in the crown of his latest ambitious project. He did his research and Abbott-Wade were the stand out company to work with.
“My whole experience with Abbott-Wade has been truly amazing and they have made me a truly stunning staircase and I look forward to working with them again in the future.“
Why a new staircase?
“I have completely transformed my downstairs and had a new extension built. I made it all open plan by removing all the walls so the staircase is now in the middle of the house. I decided that I wanted to make this the stand out main feature as you walk through the front door and into the open plan living area. My old pine staircase would not have worked and I wanted my new stairs to be a modern and contemporary oak staircase with glass sides. I knew this would look stunning so I started to look around to find who was going to make it happen.”
Inspiration & Decision making process:
“I get a lot of inspiration from magazines such as Build It Magazine and programmes like Grand Designs and I have seen how beautiful these staircases can be and with it being in the middle of the house I knew it would work.”
Decision making process:
“I liked the fact Abbott-Wade are local to me. I did get a quote from another smaller competitor who were more expensive and when Abbott-Wade came out to quote for me I liked the way their designer came across; explaining all my options and giving me more ideas for what I wanted to create and how to achieve them. The fact they were local and wouldn’t hesitate in coming straight out and addressing any problems appealed as did their Aftersales service. Now I have my new staircase fitted I am glad I chose them and couldn’t be more happy.”
Style choice:
“I chose oak with open treads, glass risers and embedded Optiwhite low-iron glass on both sides (as I have removed the walls), hand rails on both sides in oak and 2 contemporary bottom square feature steps with the newel posts set back on the second step which looks grand. On the landing we’ve finished off with the glass into the newel posts attached to the walls either side, it all works and looks absolutely stunning.”
End Result:
“It looks truly amazing and I couldn’t be more pleased with it. I am so glad I chose Abbott-Wade and if I did another project they would definitely be making my staircase – I wouldn’t even get any other quotes and would choose them every time. I can’t speak highly enough of the fitters Lee and Simon who were really great; friendly, very tidy, polite and did a brilliant job. Les who designed my staircase, Mike who did the survey and Eddie have all been brilliant.”
