When space is at a premium, a single newel and cleverly angled diminishing glass allows the balustrade to finish against the ceiling allowing the full width of the stairway to be maintained to add sparkle and light into a small space.
Old ranch rails which encroach over the treads to narrow the walkway can be removed and a wall handrail added to ensure a safe handhold as you ascend and descend the stairs. For added character, a new step can be added to invite you to climb the stairs from the hallway and bright, bold décor used to emphasis light and compliment the oak rails.
