Mr Frodsham, Lancashire
Why a new staircase?
We’d had wooden spindles which had been painted several times and were in need of updating to brighten up the hallway. The spindles had also reached a point where they had a tendency to break or come loose.
Inspiration:
We’d had a picture in our mind of the kind of staircase we were looking for but weren’t entirely clear of the finer details. We needed to know what was possible and whether it was a realistic option for us.
Decision making process:
A local company had been to quote and a friend recommended Abbott-Wade. Mike came out to visit us and we clicked straight away. He listened to our ideas and, after discussing options and details, we reached a shared vision of exactly what we wanted to achieve at the end of the project.
Style choice:
We opted for oak and glass for our refurbishment. We chose brushed steel glass clamps with stop-chamfered newel posts and pyramid newel caps to add extra detail. We’ve also emphasised the extra feeling of space the glass creates by adding a mirror to the foot of the stairs with the added benefit of showing off the staircase from all angles.
End Result:
It’s been several years now since the project was completed and we remain just as delighted with the end result. There’s been no maintenance needed and the stairs still look superb. Everyone who visits still comments on our staircase and we have recommended Abbott-Wade many times over the years. Several of our friends have since used Abbott-Wade on our recommendation and they have been equally impressed with the service, professionalism and the price they have received.
