Are you looking for innovative ways to create a feeling of more space inside your home? Opening up your staircase is a simple yet striking way to generate a sense of room and light.
As a multi-award winning company, the team at Abbott-Wade have been performing staircase renovations of this kind for more than 20 years. We operate nationwide so, wherever you’re based in the UK, we can help to transform your living space.
What exactly is an open staircase?
An open staircase has a gap between each step, producing an open, free look. By allowing light to easily pass through the room, your home will appear brighter – creating the illusion that it is bigger, and more spacious, than it actually is.
To complement this, we can also add glass staircase panels in place of more traditional balustrading styles. This further adds to the amount of light beaming through your home.
Are open staircases safe?
Yes. Every Abbott-Wade staircase adheres to current UK building regulations. To make sure our designs fully comply we add downstands. These lessen the size of the opening between each tread and reduces any risk of young children or limbs being caught in the gap.
But don’t worry, safety doesn’t have to compromise style. So we don’t reduce the impact of your new staircase we can add our 10mm toughened glass downstands to your steps. Virtually invisible, they reduce the opening size without compromising the amount of light passing through.
How do Abbott-Wade create my new open staircase?
To begin we give you a free, no obligation home survey. Here we talk through design ideas, show you material samples and photographs of similar projects we have completed.
Once the design is agreed, we get to work. Most refurbishments are completed in less than 24 hours and, thanks to our ‘Tidy Tradesman Guarantee’, you can rest assured your home will be left in spotless condition once your new staircase has been fitted. Any alterations to parts will take place under a canopy outside and our fitters will always place drop sheets around your home before starting work.
There is rarely a need to remove the existing staircase. However, we can remove it if necessary – but this is normally only required if it is not a safe enough structure for a renovation to take place.
Environmentally friendly, award-winning service
If we have any materials left over after a job, we ensure they are either used in another installation or recycled locally. Steps like these saw us recognised by the Parliamentary Review earlier this year. The review named us a ‘Best Practice Representative’ due to the longevity and achievements of our business.
This adds to further gongs we have received in recent times, including picking up awards at back-to-back National Family Business Awards ceremonies. Held annually at Wembley Stadium, we collected the ‘Best Small Business in the North West’ award in 2017, followed by the ‘Customer Service Award for the North West’ in 2018.
