Once again, we’ve been acknowledged by a local newspaper for reaching new heights in staircase renovations. You may have seen us advertised in the national press or been recommended by our customers as far afield as Aberdeen or Aldershot, but we always like to see our names in the St Helens Star – our local newspaper where we started advertising when Abbott-Wade was still a fledgling new venture.
Almost 20 years on, it still fills us with pride to receive local accolade for the bespoke services we offer. We’ve continued to employ local tradesmen and still manufacture the staircases we fit nationwide in the local area. Several local apprentices have served their time with us and attained their qualifications and it always fills us with pride when we see what we have helped them to achieve. We have maintained and built new relationships with local companies for many aspects of our business, from supplying the components we use in our installations to recycling our waste wood.

Reaching new heights in staircase renovation
If there are three things that the team at Abbott-Wade have in abundance its experience, expertise and a great passion for what they do. Established in St Helens in 1996, Abbott-Wade was one of the first companies in the UK to specialise in bespoke staircase renovations. Almost 20 years on it continues to pride itself on offering outstanding craftsmanship and only the finest products. However, what really sets Abbott-Wade apart is the unbeatable service it offers.
A family business rooted in family values
As professional tradesmen working in your home, the team understand the value of trust and always provide an honest, friendly and reliable service. The fact that most of their business is generated by word of mouth is testament to this.
Local lads and company directors Craig Abbott and Mike Wade remain very hands-on, preferring to be on the tools and dealing directly with their customers located nationwide. This personal touch and genuine desire to exceed customer expectation has been passed on to the rest of the team, whom they have trained and nurtured to share their values and high standards.
Giving back to the community
Along with plenty of blood, sweat and tears, Mike and Craig set up the business with the help of the St Helen’s Chamber of Commerce and a grant from The Prince’s Trust. As a result, they are keen to give back to the community that supported them in the early days. With a team of 18 they only employ local joiners, and over the years they have also provided apprenticeships to talented young people in the area.
A new staircase can create a ‘wow’ factor in the heart of your home
A staircase isn’t just a functional necessity, it is a central feature of your home. It’s usually the first thing people see when they walk through your door, but is very often the only part of your house never to get a makeover. The good news is that Abbott-Wade can transform the heart of your home for less than you think – and in many cases in just one day!
No mess, no fuss and no building work required
While a complete new flight is sometimes needed, Abbott-Wade also offers a convenient and affordable alternative to the upheaval of having your whole staircase ripped out. By replacing your existing balustrading and cladding over other structural elements in quality veneers, Abbott-Wade can give the impression of a complete new staircase with minimal disruption. What’s more, regardless of whether you opt for timber, metal or glass, because all staircases are pre-finished there is no work required by you afterwards.
Customers thrilled with the end result
Finally, what customers love about Abbott-Wade is there’s no hard-sell. The product, people and service sells itself – and if proof of customer satisfaction is needed, simply visit www.abbottwade.co.uk or check out the Facebook page!
