Why a new staircase?
“Our old staircase was cramped and steep and we had been looking at it for a long time and thinking that we needed to do something about it but we weren’t sure what. We had the thought of knocking down the wall between our hall and our dining room and moving our downstairs toilet elsewhere so that we had room for something more in keeping with what we had in mind.”
Inspiration:
“The trigger factor for us was coming up with an idea of what to do with our downstairs toilet which would free up the space to do something with the staircase.”
Decision making process:
“We rang a few companies and Abbott-Wade put something together that very closely met our brief which was to have something that made people say ‘wow’.”
Style choice:
“We wanted something curved and elegant that was in keeping with the house. It works exceptionally well.”
