Oak Staircases: Beautiful, Strong, Timeless
Oak is amongst the strongest and most durable of all woods so it’s not surprising that it has been one of the most desirable timbers for building and furniture for generations. What’s more, all Abbott-Wade oak staircases are pre-finished to make sure there is no further work required by you this means your staircase is complete as soon as our fitting team leaves your home.
Oak is also prized for it’s aesthetic characteristics as well it’s mechanical properties. The warm tones and attractive grain patterns of oak make its an ideal choice for both modern and traditional staircase styles. Furthermore, because each individual piece of oak has it’s own unique grain patterns, flecks and medullary rays; no two pieces will ever be the same, making your staircase as unique as you are. If that’s still not quite unique enough, we are also able to pre-finish our oak with a range of bespoke colours to add an extra wow-factor to your home.
There are many options to choose from when it comes to your oak staircase. You can select from a range of oak spindles including traditional turned spindles, timeless stop-chamfered spindles or our modern designs such as the id range or our stylish sleek-twist. Most of our spindles can also be paired with matching newel posts to add extra cohesion to the style. You can also ask to have your newel posts and spindles fluted vertically or add horizontal grooves for an extra, personal touch.
If an all-oak scheme isn’t quite to your liking why not pair your oak rails and posts with glass or even combine oak rails with painted spindles or newels? There are so many unique options available that it’s no wonder all folk love oak!
